Sara E. Byrd, Ph.D., is a research associate/consultant with the National Research Center on Learning Disabilities (NRCLD). Previously, Sara served as special education teacher, consultant, and trainer in both public and non-public schools for 10 years in Michigan and California. Additionally, she was an instructor at Central Michigan University. In 2004, she completed her doctoral studies at the University of Kansas, earning a Ph.D. in Special Education with emphases in behavior disorders, violent/aggressive behaviors, and autism. Sara's primary research interests are assessment and interventions involving at-risk students and students with learning and emotional/behavioral disabilities.
